Remembering A Loss And Fulfilled Promises

For those that don’t know October 15th is designated as “Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day”. I know it is a few days past, but I don’t think it’s too late to share. Chris and I decided to have a second child.  When I became pregnant our joy and excitement was over the top and we began dreaming of what our baby would look like.  I dreamed of countless hours of holding, loving, feeding, and caressing our baby.  I was only a few weeks into the pregnancy and planning as if he/she was due the next day.  Our prayers and dreams were coming true. The empty frame on my baby box was awaiting a picture full of chubby cheeks and rolls of fat that you would just want to pinch. I could imagine the fresh aroma of baby lotion filling my nose. At nine weeks, the unimaginable happened! While at work I had signs that my baby was in danger of miscarrying. For days I took it easy trying to do all I could to prevent this, but it wasn’t enough. On November 28th, eighteen years ago, our baby went to be with the Lord. I wish I could tell you that my first reaction was to consider this trial as joy (James 1:2), but instead I responded by asking God how “He” could do THIS! He gave me...

Letting my Faith become bigger than my fears

Why in the world am I starting a blog? Well it’s not something I ever thought I would do. Not ever! This blog is the Lord’s answer to a prayer from deep in my soul. I’ve been seeking God to reveal what more I can give of myself for Him and to glorify His name.  A prayer that I have taken to Him in secret, saying, “I want to demolish anything within me that is holding me back from being a light that shines brightly and a person who tells of His wonderful ways and unfailing love. A light that cannot be hidden.” A prayer to be what God says I am designed to be: “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify out Father in heaven.”     Matthew 5:14-16 NIV Jesus told His disciples that what God has done and is doing in your life is not to be hidden but revealed for all to see so that others may Glorify God. Now please do not misunderstand my heart! This is, by no...

STOP stands for Scripture Today for One to Ponder Today we are all busy and often too busy to think about God, pray or seek Him.  I found myself taking the small moments I had and reaching for my phone to check facebook, e-mail, text, and twitter.  I wasn’t making room for God throughout the day and I wanted to do something about that.  So in my busyness I knew I needed something to prompt me to redirect my small moments toward God. I created a 3×5 index card spiral bound book with short scriptures on them.  I simply took a few minutes and opened my bible and each time I came across a verse I had underlined in the past I wrote it on a card and repeated the process until they were all written on.  I love the surprise element of this because they are random verses throughout the bible I never know what the next day’s scripture will hold. So every time I come to a stop light or stop sign, I reach for my spiral bound index cards and quickly read the verse for the day. I then think about that verse and ask God how to apply it to my life and before I know it I’m praying and I have effectively giving my small moments to God.
