Hi there! I’m so glad you stopped by to get to know me a little better. I was born and raised in Liberty, South Carolina, and yes—I’m a Clemson Tiger fan through and through. These days my husband and I call Purlear, North Carolina home, and we truly love life here in the mountains.
Family is one of God’s greatest gifts in my life. My husband, Chris, is an incredible man of God who encourages me to be fully myself and loves me just as I am. We were high school sweethearts—though we attended rival high schools—and by God’s grace we’ve now been married for over 37 years. Chris enjoys writing as well, and you can read some of his thoughts here.
We have two incredible sons, and of course I have to brag on them for a moment. Our oldest is 33 and a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point. He now serves as a Major in the Army and is married to our daughter-in-love, Jennifer. Together they are raising three energetic children with a fourth on the way.
Our youngest son is 27 and a graduate of the University of West Florida, where he studied Cyber Security. God has blessed him with a fruitful career—one that I can’t say too much about. Ha! He is married to his high school sweetheart, Mikaela, whom we also lovingly call our daughter-in-love. They are now first-time parents.
Our grandchildren call us Doc and JoJo, and we absolutely adore every one of them. Distance may keep us apart at times, but we connect weekly and cherish every in-person visit.
I also enjoy a good corny joke. Honestly, I’m usually the one laughing the hardest at it! My family tends to laugh more at me than the joke itself—but that’s part of the fun.
At the heart of who I am is a deep desire to speak the hope and truth of Jesus into every heart and mind willing to listen. Whether I’m teaching the Bible, writing, podcasting, or speaking at women’s ministry events, my passion is helping women grow in their trust in God and learn how His Word applies to everyday life.
My favorite moments are the quiet ones spent in God’s Word or taking long walks and talking with the Lord.
And if you really want to know what I love most—it’s sitting down with women over a cup of coffee, sharing stories, encouragement, and truth from Scripture. My hope is that through my blog, podcast, and speaking, it feels a little like we’re doing exactly that together.
