Jennifer, our daughter-in-love, shared with me how she found encouragement in the least likely place. She shares, “Striving to complete my Nurse of Midwifery degree for some time now has caused me to become weary. Between my college’s lack of communication and COVID restricting intern slots It has been extremely difficult to complete my clinicals. After much searching and prayer, a door opened for me in Virginia. As you know we live in Georgia. Having a one and half year old and my husband recently returning from deployment makes this seven-hour distance exceedingly difficult. Not to mention we are on a six-month waiting list for childcare. It will require us to sacrifice financially, time apart as a family, and so much more. My faith is being tested indeed.

Days after receiving the news of my placement in Virginia my son had lost a toy in the bathroom cabinet. While searching for it I noticed a half moon shape object between the wall and cabinet edging. As I tugged to pull it out, I discovered it was a penny.

In that moment God met with me reminding me that He has everything under control, and He will help us all through this. I can not only trust Him with what feels extremely difficult I can also thank Him in my circumstances. He is faithful.”

What details do you need to trust God with today?

Is it a struggle for you to be thankful in your current circumstances?

Being Thankful is not meant for November or Thanksgiving Day only but every day. Scripture tells us to be “thankful in everything, in all circumstances” (1 Thessalonians 5:18).

While that can be challenging when we find ourselves overwhelmed, we can always find a reason to praise God. Remembering who He is will generate heartfelt gratitude.

He is:

The Lord My Healer

JEHOVAH RAPHA—(juh-HO-vah RAH-fah)

Exodus 15:25-27, 1 Peter 2:24, Jeremiah 17:14

The God Who Sees Me

 EL ROI—(el ROY)

Genesis 16:13, Psalms 139:7-12, Psalms 10:14

God With Us

  IMMANUEL—(ih-MAN-u-el)

John 14:16-17, John 14:23, Isaiah 7:14, 8:8-10

My Heavenly Father-Daddy

ABBA

 2 Corinthians 6:18, Romans 8:15-16, 1 John 3:1, Isaiah 64:8

The Lord Is there, The Lord My Companion

 JEHOVAH-SHAMMAH—(juh-HO-vah shawm-maw)

1Corinthians 3:16, Psalms 46, Ezekiel 48:35

Mighty God-Nothing is too difficult for Thee

EL GABOR

Jeremiah 32:17-19

My God my Rock(Refuge and shield)

YAHWEY TSURI—(YAH-way Zsu-REE)-

2 Samuel 22:2-3, Isaiah 26:4, Isaiah 10:21

“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!

    His faithful love endures forever.

Has the Lord redeemed you? Then speak out!”

Psalms 107:1-3, NLT

We sometimes only see a portion of the blessing, like Jennifer only seeing the half-moon shape object in the cabinet, but when she kept digging the whole blessing was discovered! Keep digging into your soul to praise Him. Speak the names of who He is outload to Him util you experience gratitude for a praiseworthy Savior.

The wonderful thing about Jennifer’s story is that she trusted God for all the details. He made a way for my husband and I to be available so our grandson could stay with us. Even though our son, Dillon, had to return to work in Georgia, and Jennifer had to travel two to three times a week between Virginia and our home there has been so much joy, peace, and gratitude for how God brought good out of their circumstances.

I would love to hear from you!

What can you be thankful for today?

In What way do you show gratitude towards God?
