It’s a struggle sometimes to live in the reality of what I know is true – especially when I’m trying to move forward from where I am to where I believe God wants me to be. When I’m in the middle of a Wilderness, when I’m facing a foe, fighting a battle, struggling to grow in my faith…or when I’m going thru the heartaches and hurts life hurls my way…it’s the promise of God’s presence that is a GAME-CHANGER.
Knowing God is with me and for me changes the way I walk and face the storms of life. But clinging to the truth of His powerful and ever-present presence demands a certain discipline that beckons me to read, study and meditate on God’s Word. After all, I can’t cling to a promise or obey a command I do not know.
In Joshua 1:5, God told Joshua… “No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you.”
This power-packed passage comes with 2 precious promises that, I believe, helped arm Joshua for the journey ahead and every battle he was about to face.
- God promised His POWER. (No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life.)
- The promise of His PRESENCE. (As I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you.)
The promise of HIS POWER and HIS PRESENCE has a way of fortifying our faith and reinforcing our resolve. Knowing that God is with me and for me is a game-changer for me.
It’s a truth that I can cling to when the fight is real, and the battle is hard.
It’s the reality that, no matter what is going on in this crazy, upside-down world, ALL the promises of God in Christ Jesus are YES and AMEN (2 Corinthians 1:20). For me, that lifts me through the circumstances instead of getting lost in them.
The same is true for you, child of God.
- Just as His FAVOR was on Joshua, the promise of His favor is YES and AMEN for
- Just as His POWER was on Joshua, the promise of His power is YES and AMEN for
- Just as His PRESENCE was with Joshua, the promise of His presence is YES and AMEN for
- Just as His PROVISIONS were provided for Joshua, His provisions are provided for you.
When we think of Joshua’s inheritance, we need to remember that the promise God gave Joshua and the children of Israel was a land to divide and to occupy. A geographical location where He would bless them with His power, His provisions, and His presence.
Our inheritance isn’t a piece of property. It’s the presence, the power and the promises of the Living God actively working in you, through you and for you.
Romans 8:17 says, those of us who have been born again, are heirs of God and joint heirs with Jesus Christ. We are heirs of all God has for us.
Our inheritance isn’t about God dividing the land to us – but about God multiplying His promises in us, through us, and to us. Our inheritance is the favor, the grace, and the peace of God ~ and it’s ours to experience every – single – day. My heart is overwhelmed when I contemplate the truth that the INHERITANCE GOD gives us in this New Testament dispensation of Grace is not a land, but it is JESUS, Himself – and all that comes with being His.
Remember whose you are and take a moment to bask in some of the promises that are yours as a child of God…
- Salvation
- A New life
- Eternal life
- Crowns and rewards
- Comfort
- Joy
- Peace
- Purpose
- Power
- Perspective
- Discernment
- Deliverance
- Forgiveness
- Freedom
- Knowledge
- Rest for our souls
- The assurance of our salvation
- Answered prayer
All that ~ and so much more ~ is ours as joint heirs of Jesus Christ.
When the fight is real and the battle is hard, remember whose you are and that He has promised His power and His presence is yours each and every day.
I don’t know what you’re going through today… but don’t allow your circumstances to swallow you up. Let what is true about God ~ and what is true about you ~ and what is true about your inheritance as a daughter of the King lift you above what you are living through.
When the fight is real & the battle is hard, you can trust that no matter what, God promises that His presence and His power are with you.
God calls us to ARISE… but we don’t arise alone. He is with us and for us every step of the way.

*Sometimes, “pennies in your path” show up in the wilderness.
Question: What are you clinging to today?
Growing Deeper-
One Action Step: Acknowledge if you are in the wilderness. It’s okay not to be okay, but it is not okay to stay there. Be willing to do what it takes to arise out of your wilderness. That might mean letting go of anger, bitterness, and resentfulness so you can step out of the wilderness and step into the promises of God.
