I was feeling fragile. Circumstances were stacking up, and the pressure was overwhelming.

I felt like the disciples in the boat when a storm overtook them. The waves of the deep were slapping them around, they were terrified, and yet Jesus laid there in the ship snoozing away.

They were confused as how He could be sleeping and doing nothing. Didn’t Jesus know their spirits were vexed, hearts gripped with fear, and they were one wave away from going down?

I felt as though I was going down and wondered why God was silent.

Have you been there? Feeling fragile as if everything would fall apart with one gust of wind.

Pull up close and know you are not alone.

As I heard the cracking of my soul from the continuous pressure, I cried out to God.

“Lord, I am about to drown! I am afraid, and I can no longer stand. I feel so very fragile Lord. I am fragile. Help me!”

“Jodi, who told you that you were fragile?”

“Well, I don’t know, but I do know that You didn’t Lord. I guess the enemy whispered that to me.”

“That’s right Jodi! I did not tell you that you were fragile. The feeling of being fragile is just a feeling. It is not a fact!”

Then, I recalled a friend asking me to seek how I could glorify God in this circumstance.

I pondered on how Jesus glorified God as He lived out His earthly life. He walked in truth, integrity, and confidence in His Father. He exercised wisdom, demonstrated compassion, extended grace, and stayed close to His Father at all times.

And then, it HIT me!

Jesus walked in the security of the Father!

SECURE!

NOT FRAGILE!

No matter what storm Jesus was in it did not shake Him, because His trust and confidence were always anchored securely in God’s hands. Never was there any doubt that God would see Him through anything.

If we are to imitate Christ and walk as He did then we can walk secure in God, too!

“But whoever keeps his word, truly in him the love of God is made complete. This is how we know we are in him: The one who says he remains in him should walk just as He (Jesus) walked.” (1 John 2:5-6 CSB)

These truths opened my eyes to the WHO behind the “Who told you that?” question. Where were these feelings coming from? The truth of God’s Word told me they were not from my Father, but from my enemy. 2 Timothy 1:7 says this: God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline. Let’s not place our trust in feelings and lies from our enemy, but rather in the truth from a Father who loves us!

He is our rock, our very help in time of need, and our strength (Psalm 18:2, Isaiah 41:13, Philippians 4:13).

So, stand up a little taller!

Straighten those shoulders!

Lift your chin a little higher!

Walk as Jesus walked. SECURE in the Father! Who told me to tell you this? My Father did!
